Does Love Have to Hurt? Intimate Partner Violence: What Practitioners Need to Know. June 14, 2016
Our Panel explored the major themes in victims' accounts of their relationships from the perspective of contemporary psychodynamic theories, with the goal of elucidating the underlying psychopathology to help inform clinical treatment. Panelists reviewed epidemiological information and examined the current state of collaborations between domestic violence service agencies and mental health treatment settings. The talk included a discussion on the novel collaborative initiative by the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence between Columbia's Psychiatry Department and the New York City Family Justice Centers.
