Committee Charge
1. To encourage participation in NYCPS by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, and Plus (LGBTQ+) members; to promote professional acceptance of LGBTQ+ NYCPS members by their colleagues. 2. To be available to the Officers, Executive Council, and other Committees and Task Forces of NYCPS for consultation when matters concerning gender and sexuality are discussed or require clarification; to present information on the experiences and perspectives of LGBTQ+ persons as they relate to psychiatric practice and theory; to advocate for the education and practice of LGBTQ+-affirmative healthcare and mental health care. 3. To encourage ongoing education within NYCPS, enabling its members to have up to date and balanced understanding of gender and sexuality; to participate in such education programs when appropriate 4. To serve as an interface between the psychiatric and LGBTQ+ communities promoting a better understanding of each other

LGBTQ+ Peer Supervision Group
Please consider joining the virtual monthly LGBTQ+ Psychiatrist Peer Supervision Group hosted by the APA New York County Psychiatric Society (NYCPS) LGBTQ+ Committee in partnership with The Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists (AGLP).
Future meetings will be held at 8pm on the FIRST Tuesday of each month. Please note this is a change from SECOND Tuesdays and current participants will need to reregister for this recurring meeting.
The peer supervision group provides a safe and confidential environment to connect with peers through a monthly Zoom discussion of clinical and practice issues. LGBTQ+ psychiatry residents and psychiatrists are invited to discuss both their LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ identified patients.

The Committee co-hosted a welcome reception with the Association of LGBTQ Psychiatrists (AGLP) for psychiatrists from across the world in NYC for the APA's Annual Meeting.
Movie Night June 2, 2016
The Committee co-hosted a Movie Night with the Early Career Psychiatrist (ECP) Committee. It featured the film "Do I Sound Gay?" a documentary exploring the stereotype of the gay voice. Directed by David Thorpe. With David Thorpe, George Takei, Tim Gunn, David Sedaris.
