How to Help Your Patient Using Principles of Lifestyle Psychiatry
Description: Lifestyle Psychiatry is a growing subspecialty of psychiatry that integrates principles of lifestyle medicine into the management of psychiatric illness. In this seminar, Dr. Gia Merlo, Professor of Psychiatry at New York University and chair of the new APA Lifestyle Psychiatry Caucus will speak about how to to help patients implement the six principles of lifestyle medicine of sleep, physical movement, nutrition, connectedness, stress management, and substance use harm reduction. These techniques are highlighted in her self-help book to be released in Spring 2024. A few copies of her book will be available at this live event.
