Holistic Workup and Management of a Patient (Part 2 of 2)
Your patients have gotten better, but do you as a doctor and the patient both feel there is room for improvement? Join the Complementary & Integrative Medicine Committee and Minority Affairs Committee for a two-part lecture series in which Dr. Jasdeep Sandhu will discuss the basics of a holistic work-up and management of patients. This knowledge will take psychiatrists beyond conventional medications and offer strategies to advance a patient's course of treatment.
Lecture 1: (Nov 4) Meeting Patients Where They Are - A Diagnostic Deep Dive, will focus on going beyond DSM-5 symptoms and conducting a systems-based work-up including the brain, gut, nervous system and vagal tone, inflammation, hormones, movement, sleep, and spiritual needs.
Lecture 2: (Nov 11) Integrative Treatment, will focus on formulating a comprehensive treatment plan using both traditional medications and food as medicine (nutraceuticals), supplements, balancing hormones, restoring vagal tone, exercise, and mindfulness.
