Committee Charge

1. Provide suggested advocacy prioritize annually to be approved by the Executive Council 
2. Identify governmental policies and legislation that are relevant and important to NYCPS members and their patients
3. Advocate for the professional interests of NYCPS members and the interests of their patients with public officials who serve New York City
4. Organize events that provide training and advocacy opportunities for NYCPS members
5. Liaise and collaborate, as needed, with partner organizations working in mental health advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels
6. Coordinate NYCPS’s organizational response to and involvement with media portrayal of psychiatry and mental illness
