Protect Funding for the Minority Fellowship Program - Help Ensure Diversity in the Mental Health Workforce
June 8, 2018

Ethnic minorities make up more than 28 percent of the nation’s population, yet less than 20 percent of the United States’ mental health workforce consist of ethnic minorities. This lack of diversity can lead to significant and persistent health disparities between different racial and ethnic populations. For nearly 45 years, the Minority Fellowship Program, the only federal program that supports culturally competent mental health and substance use disorders professionals, has successfully encouraged more clinicians from racial and ethnic minorities to engage in work designed to enhance and diversify the mental health workforce and improve behavioral health outcomes for underserved communities. Urge your members of Congress to fully fund this vital program!
