Dr. Robinette Bell Memorial
August 24th, 2017

It is with great sadness the family of Dr. Robinette Bell shared with us her passing.

A memorial service led by Senior Minister Galen Guengerich will be held in the chapel of the Unitarian Church of All Souls in New York City on Sunday, September 10th at 2pm in celebration of Dr. Bell's life.

Dr. Phyllis Harrison-Ross Memorial
January 24, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of NYCPS member, Dr. Phyllis Harrison-Ross with you. Dr. Harrison-Ross was an integral part of NYCPS and APA. She was a champion of telepsychiatry for its ability to reach underserved populations, and aided the Society in the creation and implementation of its telepsychiatry training program. An APA Distinguished Fellow, she was a recipient of the Solomon Carter Fuller Award in 2004 and a dedicated member for over 50 years.

In addition to her work with NYCPS and APA, Dr. Harrison-Ross served as Commissioner of the NYS Commission of Correction and Chair of the Commission's Medical Review Board. She was also the Founder and President Emeritus of the Black Psychiatrists of Greater New York and Associates as well as past President of Black Psychiatrists of America. She additionally served as Trustee for the New York Society for Ethical Culture and Chair of their affiliated Social Service Board.

Dr. Harrison-Ross will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to the advancement of mental health treatment in under-served communities and her fervor for mentoring the next generation of mental health providers. Our condolences go out to her family and close friends.
